With the comics coming close to the landmark issue , it wouldn't be surprising to see Kirkman throw some curve-balls at the protagonists, and the sudden and ignoble death of Rick Grimes would be the perfect match to light off a power keg of conflict. There's also a chance the might play a role in the movie intended to explore what happens to Rick following his apparent death on the show.

If so, Rick's presence might help soften tensions between the Commonwealth and his own camp if they were to ever encounter each other -- until he gets shot in the gut, of course.

While Rick has managed to evade certain death so far, the television show adapting this story could lead to the death of the former Georgia police officer -- for real.
