He refers several times, during the chapter to some topics, "that we will explain later" or "that we described before, remember", however, they have either been introduced briefly or not mentioned at all. John Edney and William Arbaugh book "Real One person found this helpful. Kept me awake when the Cisco official guide puts me to sleep. Todd's writing style is more layman's and casual which definitely helped me in retaining the material.
Passed on the first try. Between the two you will get a thorough understanding of how everything works, in addition to current information. Best choice for this subject, I think. I have attended a seminar with Mr.
Once Todd's book became available I got a copy and retook the exam and passed with flying colors. I've read three chapters now, and I wish I would have just stuck with the Cisco Press version. I found more errors in the first few chapters of this book than I found in the entire last Cisco Press book I read. With that, I'm surprised to have read so many reviews suggesting that I download this book instead of the Cisco Press book. To support my observations, here are some of the errors I found these are a few from Chapter 1: Page 7, first paragraph: Figure 1.
Page 11, first paragraph: Page 12, last paragraph: Page 14, last paragraph: At the end of that same paragraph: Page 15, last paragraph: References a "Repeater 2" in Figure 1. Page 23, first paragraph: Page 27, last paragraph: I'd also like to point out that Sybex's noted errata from their website only includes one of the above items; the rest are not even noted. Anyway, my point is that I downloadd this Sybex book after reading negative reviews concerning the equivalent Cisco Press book, with hopes to avoid those same abundant mistakes I've both observed and read about in other's reviews; however, Sybex has many technical mistakes, too, so I think the decision really boils down to what style of writing suits you.
If you want to read a book whereby the author actually seems to be speaking to you through his writings as in a casual conversation , then this Sybex book is probably for you. However, if you generally prefer a more technical approach to your studies, Cisco Press may be a better choice instead in my opinion.

Either way, be prepared to deal with the rather frustrating mistakes. I do like that this book includes the full PDF, which is nice to search for keywords to quickly review topics I've noticed that Cisco Press does not seem to include the full PDF's anymore with their newer books.
