VetBooks February 22, This book is so full of useful information that it could potentially be intimidating; however, it is divided into 4 parts with various subsections for quick reference and the table of contents and index are both helpful for finding a particular drug or topic quickly. Normal parameters for vital signs and hematology tests are given in part 1.
Differences that may be attributed to age, breed, physical fitness level, etc are mentioned. The meaning and clinical significance of values is discussed and the section includes several charts and graphs.
This part serves as a very helpful, thorough review without having to flip through pages of dense hematology texts. Part 2 focuses on diagnostic tests and discusses everything from the dexamethasone suppression test to the Schirmer tear test.
Though many of the tests mentioned are not routinely performed by the average equine practitioner, helpful step-by-step instructions are given. Interpretation of test results is also discussed. Part 3 most accurately reflects the title of the book, the index of drugs used in equine medicine.
